TIP 1 – Domain Name Search

With thousands of people registering domain names every day, its getting harder to find the domain name you want.

There are a number of domain name generator sites out there that allow you to input keywords (relating to your new website, ie, pet birds) and search for available domain names using a combination of words related to your keyword.

This is a great time saver and you’ll usually find domain names you never thought of before that are perfect for your site.

TIP 2 - Do some Domain Name Checking first…

Ok, so you’ve found the domain name you want to buy, now what?

Before you register any domain name, always check if the domain was registered previously and if that domain name has been penalised by search engines or used by email spammers – otherwise you are going be facing an uphill battle getting your new site indexed by the search engines.

So how does one check any domain for such penalties? Use the WAYBACK Machine located at http://www.archive.org/web/web.php

Its free to use and saves you from registering domains that are penalised.

TIP 3 – Where to purchase Domain Names…

There are numerous domain name registrars on the Internet. The price per domain per year can vary enormously from registrar to registrar.

Domain registration is cheap these days and you should not be paying any more than $9 domain per year, that includes all the domain extensions like .info, .biz, etc.

I like using http://www.itsyourdomain.com for all my domain registrations and searches. Its cheap at only $7.92 per year for all domain extensions and comes with a control panel where you can easily manage all your domains.

Amsterdam/Prague May 6th – After the successful launch of the .CO.NL extension, the CO.NL Operator is proud to announce that the Czech Arbitration Court (CAC) now provides Dispute Resolution for CO.NL Domains through its Online Dispute Resolution Platform.

“.CO.NL always intended to provide a credible alternative while ensuring third-party rights are respected in the name space”, comments Sander Scholten, General Manager, “Our Grandfather and Sunrise periods were designed to allow .nl domain name holders and trademark holders to secure their names on a priority basis and we believe CAC’s support is another major step in ensuring potential disputes are now dealt with in the most effective way”.

The Czech Arbitration Court was chosen in 2005 by the European Commission to act as sole Alternative Dispute Resolution Provider for .EU Domain Names and was recently appointed as a Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy provider (UDRP) by ICANN. Under the mutual understanding between CAC and the .CO.NL Operator, disputes involving domain names bearing the “.co.nl” ending will be dealt with using CAC’s modern online platform, and rulings will be based on UDRP rules similar to those of the .EU Domains.

“CAC is proud to welcome CO.NL domain names on its new UDRP platform” comments Zbynek Loebl, manager of UDRP project of the Czech Arbitration Court “the proven UDRP process is perfect to deal with any potential dispute under CO.NL and our professional panellists are excited to deal with this new challenge”.

The Go Live phase has opened on the 15th April and allows the general public to register any .CO.NL without restrictions or priority rights. The applications are accepted on a first come, first served basis and a local presence in the Netherlands is not required.
